ENFIELD, CONNECTICUT: Charles F. Labutis, Jr., 66, died January 3, 1980 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford Springs. He was the father of Jacqueline Dows of Montville. Services were held at St. Bernard's Church in Enfield. Burial was at St. Bernard's Cemetery under the direction of Leete-Stevens Funeral Home.
SOUTHINGTON, CONNECTICUT: Violet Lalla Lanteri, 88, died July 2, 2009. She was born September 4, 1920 to the late John and Julia Bove Lalla. She retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, and was a longtime Avon representative. She attended St. Dominic Church, and was a volunteer with the Bradley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by her children, J. Douglas Lantieri (Mary) and Phyllis Orde (Clifford), all of Southington, 3 granchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Joseph P. Lanteri; and a son, Jerry Lanteri. Services were held at St. Dominic Church. NORWALK, CONNECTICUT: Dorothy Lantz died April 7, 1977 at her residence. She was born in Suffern, NY to Louis and Sadie Nelson Weiner. She was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, and was an office manager at Advertising Promotes Sales in Wesport. She was a member of Temple Shalom and its Sisterhood. Survivors include her husband, Rabbi Jacob Lantz; two sons, Lawrence S. Lantz of Norwalk, and Paul D. Lantz of New York City; her mother, of Monroe, NY; and a brother, Elliott Weiner of Newburgh, NY. Services were held at Temple Shalom. Burial was at the Independent Hebrew Society Cemetery under the direction of Collins Funeral Home.
BRANFORD, CONNECTICUT: Arsen Lazaros died March 22, 2011. He born September 17, 1926 in Albania to Sokrat and Kaliopi Lazaros. He worked in the restaurant industry, and owned the Cape Codder Restaurant in New Haven. He was a veteran of the Albanian Army. He was the father of Kaliopi Macknis of New Haven, and Maria Langner of Madison; and the father-in-law of Edlira Kovaci of Branford. He had 2 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Grace Lazaros; a son, Ivan Lazri; a sister; and three brothers. Arrangements were handled by W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home.
NAUGATUCK, CONNECTICUT: Evelyn G. Cockcroft Leary, 96, died March 22, 2007. She was born May 14, 1910 to the late Herbert and Mary Ellen Thurston Cockcroft. She attended Waterbury Hospital School of Nursing, and attended St. Francis of Assisi Church. Survivors include a daughter, Maureen Taylor of Naugatuck; two sons, John J. Leary of Simsbury, and Bill Leary of Naugatuck; two daughtersin-law, Mary Leary and Barbara Leary, both of Naugatuck; her grandchildren; and her greatgrandchildren. REDDING, CONNECTICUT: David M. Lee, 55, died February 22, 1992 at the Danbury Hospital. He was born January 27, 1937 in Eastbourne, England to Col. James Lee and Winnie Burr Lee. He was an international business manager for Union Carbide with 32 years of service. He held a master's degree from Cambridge University. He had lived in Redding for 16 years, and was a founder of the Redding Soccer Club. He is survived by his wife, Alexandra Luckes Lee; two sons, Andrew D. Lee and Bruce M. STRATFORD, CONNECTICUT: Angelo Lucifora, 84, died July 28, 2007. He was born May 31, 1923 to the late Luigi and Concetta Lucifora. He was the former proprietor of the Swiss Colony in Tucson, AZ and Margaret's Spirit Shop in Bridgeport. He is survived by two sons, Louis Lucifora of Ansonia, and Angelo Lucifora (Tracy) of Stratford; a daughter, Claudia Murray (Robert) of Stratford; two stepdaughters, Patty Wildman (Paul) and Gail Parker, both of Tucson, AZ; 9 grandchildren; his cousins; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Vieira Lucifora; two brothers, Carmen and William Lucifora; and two sisters, Enrica "Rita" Curcio and Angelina Santora. Services were held at the Stratford Baptist Church. Interment was at Lakeview Cemetery by Adzima Funeral Home.
WATERBURY, CONNECTICUT: Janice M. Lushinsky Malenfant, 60, died February 20, 2009 at Saint Mary's Hospital. She was born September 19, 1948 in Waterbury to the late Peter Lushinsky and Pauline Drag Lushinsky. She was a graduate of Saint Mary's Hospital School of Nursing, and was an employee of the hospital for 14 years. She also worked as nurse at Ingraham Manor in Bristol for 20 years. She is survived by her husband, Lewis A. Malenfant; her children, Lewis J., Lindsay A., Matthew P. Malenfant, and Aimee (Greg) Roberts, all of Waterbury; her mother; her sisters, Beverly Amodeo of Waterbury, Paula Kuzlchev of Lancaster, CA, and Lynn Soliwocki and Ruth Alsdorf, both of Wolcott; a granddaughter; and her nieces and nephews. Interment was at New Pine Grove Cemetery by DellaVecchia Funeral Home.
NORWALK, CONNECTICUT: Paul Martin, Jr. died August 13, 1971. He was born in Norwalk. He worked as a cable splicer for Southern New England Telephone Co., and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. He was the husband of Barbara Stevens Martin. Services were held at Bethel A.M.E. Church. Interment with military honors was at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
NORWALK, CONNECTICUT: Harriet Arnold McKissock died January 10, 2008. She was born January 25, 1912. She was a graduate of Smith College, and was active with the Smith Club Alumnae Association, Preserve the Wetlands, and the Norwalk Land Trust. Survivors include a daughter, Holly Sawyer (Tom) of Malibu, CA; 4 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Allan McKissock. NORWALK, CONNECTICUT: Horace McMahon, 64, died August 17, 1971 at Norwalk Hospital. He was born May 17, 1906 in South Norwalk to Thomas and Agnes Bellew McMahon. He was a stage, film and television actor, appearing in Detective Story, Naked City, The Thin Man, Alexander's Ragtime Band, The Twilight Zone, Mr. Broadway and more. He had attended Fordham University School of Law, and also worked occasionally in journalism, having written for the South Norwalk Sentinel and the Darien Review. He was past president of the Catholic Actors' Guild, and enjoyed sports. He was survived by his wife, Louise Campbell McMahon; a son, Thomas McMahon; and two daughters, Kate and Martha. Services were held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment was at St. John's Cemetery.
NIANTIC, CONNECTICUT: Mary A.R. McQuillan, 41, died March 4, 1949 at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, MA. She was the daughter of James and Josephine London McQuillan. She was a fourth grade teacher at Bartlett School. She was preceded in death by her mother. Services were held at St. Agnes' Church. Interment was at Union Cemetery under the direction of Thomas L. Neilan and Sons Funeral Home.
BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT: Thomas McRae, Jr., 61, died June 22, 2011 at his residence. He was born February 15, 1950 in Bennettsville, SC. He was a tool grinder at Sikorsky Aircraft with 32 years of service, and had lived in Bridgeport for over 40 years. He was a member of the Newfield Social Club and the M.O.V.E. Yacht Club. He was a C.B. enthusiast, and his handle was "Blue Bird". Survivors include three daughters, Geshila, Patricia and Monquencelo Miles, all of Bridgeport; a son, Tyrone Miles of Georgia; a brother, Sam McRae of Bennettsville, SC; 12 grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Local services were held at the chapel of Morton's Mortuary. Interment was at Ideal Cemetery in Marlboro County, SC.
DANBURY, CONNECTICUT: Edna M. Venning Miller, 77, died January 13, 1978 at her residence. She was born July 17, 1900 to John and Lilly Thomas Venning. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. Survivors include two sons, Richard Miller and Raymond A. Miller, Jr.; four daughters, Mrs. John Morganti, Mrs. Allen Chester, Jean Kienle, and Myrtle McPhee; her grandchildren; her great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews. WILTON, CONNECTICUT: Zoltan J. Molnar, 74, died March 12, 2006 at Norwalk Hospital. He was born in Hungary to Istvan and Maria Bertok Molnar. He was a self-employed residential painter, and a former longtime resident of Norwalk. Survivors include a sister, Maria (Oscar) Slankovits of Hungary; two nephews; and his friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Istvan. Services were held at St. Ladislaus Church. Arrangements were handled by Magner Funeral Home.
STAMFORD, CONNECTICUT: Ferdinand Nicholas Monjo, 60, died March 6, 1929 at his residence, "The Cedars", in Stamford. He was born August 13, 1875 in Brooklyn, NY. He came from a family of noted fur traders, and took over his father's business in 1897. He was the director of the New York Fur Auction Co., as well as co-director of the Fur Trade Foundation and the Charity Chest of the Fur Industry in New York. He maintained a branch office in St. Louis, and was a member of the Fur Merchants' Credit Association. He was the husband of Jennie May Monjo; and the father of George L. Monjo, Ferdinand Monjo, Jr., and Edward R. Monjo. His grandson, F.N. Monjo III, was a children's book author and editor, and a recipient of the National Book Award. Interment was at Woodland Cemetery in Stamford.
TORRINGTON, CONNECTICUT: Roger J. Mordarski, 61, died January 2, 2010. He was born January 4, 1948 to the late John and Wanda Grundwalski Mordarski. He retired from the Torrington Company after 41 years of service. He is survived by a daughter, Nicole Gurtowsky of Torrington; a sister, Pauline Mordarski of Torrington; and 3 grandchildren. WEST HAVEN, CONNECTICUT: Roscoe Morrison, Sr., 76, died March 1, 2011. He was born October 23, 1934 in Rennert, NC to the late King Morrison, Sr. and Susanna Morrison. NORWALK, CONNECTICUT: Father C.D. O'Rorke, C.S.Sp., died in September of 1932. He was born in 1861 in Ireland. For 15 years, he served as pastor of St. Christopher's Church in Tiverton, RI, and was residing with the Holy Ghost Fathers community in Norwalk. Services were held at the Holy Ghost Chapel. Interment was at Ferndale Cemetery in Norwalk.
MANCHESTER, CONNECTICUT: Anna Kramer Osvald, died March 9, 2011 at Manchester Manor. She was born November 20, 1918 in Unionville to George and Anna Mikolajcik Kramer. She was a former resident of New London. She enjoyed gardening. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jane Brosnan of Manchester, and Anna Nicholson of Stonington; a son, Joseph J. Osvald (Dorothy) of Schenectady, NY; two siblings, Theresa Oswell and Andrew Kramer; 6 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph M. QUINEBAUG, CONNECTICUT: Sophie W. Pietluck Parzych, 86, died January 2, 2007 at her residence. She was born December 25, 1920 in Southbridge to John and Leonora Pollack Pietluck. She was a former resident of Fabyan, CT. She retired from American Optical, and was a member of St. Stephen's Church. She enjoyed crocheting and bird watching. Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Gaska (Ronald) of Harpursville, NY, and and Barbara Russo (Charles), and Janet Chapdelaine (fiance Alan Rusack) of Dudley; two brothers, Peter and Charles Pietluck, both of Webster; 3 grandchildren; her cousins; her nieces and nephews; and her dog, Rudy. SOMERS, CONNECTICUT: Mildred B. MacNeil Pease, 89, died July 19, 2007 at Evergreen Healthcare. She was born September 25, 1917 in Springfield, MA. She was a longtime Somers resident, and operated Maplecrest Farms with her husband. Survivors include two sons, Robert N. Pease (Diana) of Somers, and Raymond L. Pease of McCune, KS; a sister, Pat Ely; a brother, Donald MacNeil; 3 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace F. Pease; a son, Richard O. NORWALK, CONNECTICUT: Harry Nathaniel Peavey, Jr., 72, died April 13, 2002. He was born December 1, 1929 to the late Harry N. Peavey, Sr. and and Josephine Howard Peavey. He worked as a quality control inspector with Burndy Corp. for over 30 years, and served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He attended St. Philip's Church, and was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Jennie Scinto Peavey; a brother, Claude B. Peavey of San Antonio, TX; and his nieces and nephews. Services were held at St. Philip's Church. Entombment was at Willowbrook Cemetery.
WILLIMANTIC, CONNECTICUT: Encarnacion Pedraza, 78, died September 22, 2001. He was born March 25, 1923 in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico to the late Francisco Pedraza and Monserrate Arroyo. He is survived by his wife, Maria Pedraza; five sons, Felix of New York, NY, Jose of Florida, Juan S. of Bridgeport, and Margaro and Juan A., both of Willimantic; six daughters, Rosa Ramos of Willimantic, Elena Sosa of Florida, Marta Pedraza of Hartford, Lydia Pedraza of Willimantic, Gloria Esther Rivera of Puerto Rico, and Maria Elena Pedraza of Willimantic; a sister, Carmen Pedraza of Willimantic; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. EAST HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT: Frances Krusiewicz Pelc, 85, died September 12, 2008 at Hartford Hospital. She was born in Hartford. She retired from Pratt & Whitney Small Tool, and had lived in East Hartford for 10 years. Survivors include two sisters, Hedwig Brown of Glastonbury, and Irene Pecor of East Hartford; a sister-in-law, Ann Krusiewicz of Wethersfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Pelc. Interment was at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
STAMFORD, CONNECTICUT: Emil Petro, 92, died March 7, 2010 at his residence. He was born May 6, 1917 in Czechoslovakia to the late John and Mary Petrasko Petro.
He came to the States at the age of 14, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked at the Swiss Chalet in New Canaan for 30 years, and was also a baker at the Cottage Bake Shop in Stamford for over a decade. Survivors include a daughter, Beverly P. Slinsky of Stamford; a grandson; a great-grandson; a brother, John Hopco; a sister, Ruth Hopco; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Turanec Petro; and a son, Emil J. Petro. Services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment was at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Bosak-Talboys Funeral Home.
BURLINGTON, CONNECTICUT: Era O. Poisson, 84, died March 9, 2008. She was born January 18, 1924 to the late Henry and Nellie Overstreet. She retired from Smith-Gates in Farmington. She is survived by a son, Wayne M. Poisson of Burlington; a daughter and son-in-law, Yvette D. and Anthony DeRollo of Clearwater, FL; and a grandson. She was the widow of Camille J. Poisson. HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT: Pearlesther Pottinger, 75, died June 2, 2012 in Jamaica. She was born March 25, 1937 in Colon, Panama to the late Gertrude Gayle. She was a retired nurse's aide. She was a longtime resident of Brooklyn, NY, and had lived in Hartford for about 6 years. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Norma Francis of Hartford; her nieces-in-law and nephews-in-law; her friends; and her church family. SOUTH WINDSOR, CONNECTICUT: Helen Grace DeVarney Potyra, 85, died July 1, 2010. She was the daughter of Walter and Sarah Brennan DeVarney. She was born and raised in Manchester, but had been a South Windsor resident since 1953. She was a longtime employee of Phillip R. Smith Elementary School, and attended Wapping Community Church. She was a 60-year member of the Pythian Sisters, and also a member of the Manchester W.A.T.E.S., and the South Windsor Senior Center. She enjoyed making jewelry, playing bingo, and going to Foxwoods. Survivors include three sons, John Potyra (Jean) of South Windsor, James Potyra (Rosemary) of Vernon, and Michael Potyra (Janet) of Tolland; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Potyra; her parents; her stepfather, Stephen Miller; and four sisters, Doris Zaches, Frances Angelo, Ella Baker, and Alice Bouthilette. Interment was at Wapping Cemetery under the direction of Samsel and Carmon Funeral Home.
SOUTHINGTON, CONNECTICUT: Sr. Maryanna Prigitano, 76, died April 15, 2009 in Southington. She was born December 25, 1932 in Meriden to the late Vincent and Josephine Nadile Prigitano. She was a graduate of Villa Walsh College in Morristown, NJ. She was a member of the Religious Teachers Filippini, and taught at many Catholic schools. She most recently taught at St. Thomas School. He, his father, and his brother owned the Silverstein Agency, a real estate and insurance business, and developed residential homes. He was a past president of the New London Board of Realtors, and was with Little League, the Elks, and the Lions Club. He was a member of New London Country Club for over 30 years, and was a longtime chairman of the Ocean Beach Park Board. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sarah Rodensky Silverstein; two sons, Robert and wife Cynthia of East Lyme, and Roy and wife Jacquelyn of Shaker Heights, OH; and a brother, F. She was past president of the Woman's Club of Old Saybrook, and had served as treasurer of the New London chapter of the American Guild of Organists, secretary of the Old Saybrook Historical Society, and accompanist for the Community Choral Club of Deep River. She was a former member of the Colonial Saybrook Founder's Association, the Old Saybrook Land Trust and the American Music Association. She was unmarried. She was a graduate of Boston University with a degree in cardio-pulmonary technology. She formerly worked at University Hospital in Boston and Montefiure Hospital in the Bronx. She had lived in Easton for over 22 years, and was a volunteer at the Unquowa School. She is survived by her husband, Kevin A. Taylor; two sons, Ryan and Christopher Taylor; her parents, of Yonkers; and 4 nephews. Services were held at St. George Albanian Orthodox Church. Burial was at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Yonkers under the direction of Commerce Hill Funeral Home.
WALLINGFORD, CONNECTICUT: Mary Ann Morrell Tongue died July 6, 1970 in Wallingford. She was born January 30, 1886 in Sheffield, England. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and was a longtime Wallingford resident. Survivors include three daughters, Mildred Tongue, Mrs. Florence (Rudolph) Schlenker, and Mrs. Lillian (Leslie) Prowse, all of Wallingford. She was the wife of Charles Tongue. WALLINGFORD, CONNECTICUT: Esther R. Totz, 91, died November 11, 2006. She was born April 2, 1915 to the late Torquato Leslie and Gentile Gontales Baraldi. She was an office worker at Stanley-Judd, and retired as a bookkeeper with Wallace Silversmith. She was a member of the Wallingford Senior Citizens Center. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Rose Marie and Charles Reig of Wallingford; 9 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William A. SOUTHINGTON, CONNECTICUT: Armondo A. Trotta, 83, died September 14, 2009. He was born May 1, 1926 to the late Julio and Lucy Vincenty Trotta. He retired from High Speed Machine after 24 years, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a Big Band clarinet and saxophone player. He attended St. Thomas Church, and was a member of the VFW. He is survived by his wife, Doris Gagnon Trotta; a son, Anthony J. Trotta, Sr.; two sisters, Rose Bulak of East Berlin and Eleanor Dietrich of Unionville; and 2 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Arthur and Carmen Trotta. She retired from Pioneer Parachute Company, and was a graduate of Connecticut Business College. She attended St. James Church, and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Joseph G. Twaronite; three children, Maryanne Margiotta (Michael) of Agawam, MA, Joseph J. Twaronite (Barbara) of Henderson, NV, and Eugene A. Twaronite (Josephine Kelleher) of Prescott, AZ; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; her nieces and nephews; and her caregiver, Beverly Bailey of Manchester. She was a former inspector at Chase Brass and Copper in Waterbury, and also worked at Marion Industries. She enjoyed antiques, cooking, fishing and gardening. She is survived by five nieces, Leslie French of West Haven, Frances Tatalias of Roxbury, JoAnn Wioncek of Torrington, Joan Church of Midway, GA, and Joan Stacy of Lady Lake, FL; and two nephews, Robert Shannon of Claremont, FL, and John Lord of Lyme, NH. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Veillette; four sisters, Helen Lord, Nellie Shannon, Victoria Mosgrove, and Mary Madden; and a brother, John Wioncek. Services were held at St. Bridget Church. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery.
MERIDEN, CONNECTICUT: Patrick E. Veillette died September 4, 1956 at his residence. He was born in Quebec, Canada on September 9, 1870. He had been a Meriden resident for 68 years. He was a longtime foreman in the lamp fixture department at Bradley and Hubbard Manufacturing Co., and also worked in the car business with Dobson and Veillette. He attended St. Laurent's Church. Survivors include two sons, George W. of Meriden, and Herman E. of West Hartford; four brothers, Adolph, Idilion, Leopold and Edward Veillette; and 6 grandchildren. He was president of the Atlantic Pool Company and former owner of the Cork and Bottle Shop in Glenbrook. He was a member of the Connecticut Package Store Association, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He had lived in Stamford for 8 years. Survivors include his wife, Catherine Garrett Walsh; two daughters, Janet and Donna Walsh, both of Stamford; three sons, Brian, Patrick and Kevin Walsh, all of Stamford; his parents, of County Mayo, Ireland; a sister, Mrs. Mary Healey of Ireland; and four brothers, Michael Walsh of Norwalk, Patrick of England, and Anthony and Thomas Walsh, both of Ireland. EASTFORD, CONNECTICUT: Kay Mina Weeden, 73, died May 2, 2011. She was born June 19, 1937 in Manchester, CT to Klarence (Kris) and Marguerite S. Karlsen. She attended Tufts University in Boston, and had worked at Paperback Trader, and in the emergency room at Day Kimball Hospital. She had also been a veterinary technician. She was a Spiritualist, and served as a trustee for the Connecticut State Spiritualist Association, the Pine Grove Spiritualist Camp in Niantic, and the First Spiritualist Church of Willimantic, where she also taught classes and moderated services. She attended Spiritualist conferences nationwide. She enjoyed reading, nature, and watching wildlife. Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Fydenkrvez (Daniel) of Lebanon CT, and Kim Pullo of Manchester; a son, Kris Weeden (Jennifer) of Willimantic; 4 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Services were held at the First Spiritualist Church of Willimantic. Interment was at Grove Cemetery.
SOUTHINGTON, CONNECTICUT: Albert Arnott Wellington, 83, died October 14, 2009. He was born December 26, 1925 to the late George W. and Albina Farren Wellington. He retired from Whittnon Spindle, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. She formerly taught at Crosby High School, and was officer manager and sales representative with the family business, Louis Zackin & Co. During World War II, she was a volunteer driver for the Red Cross, and was a volunteer at Hadassah's national headquarters. She was a member of B'Nai Shalom Synagogue. Survivors include 35 nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Henrietta Zackin; and five brothers, Isador Zackin, Jonas Zackin, Samuel Zackin, Solomon Zackin, and Ralph Zackin. Interment was at Workman's Circle Cemetery in Waterbury by Alderson Funeral Home.
