LEXINGTON, NORTH CAROLINA: Annie Fultz Alger, 72, died March 20, 2007. She was born January 3, 1935 to Carl and Maggie Furr Fultz. She was a retired assembler at Lexington Furniture. She is survived by three daughters, Carol Anne Sears of Englewood, CO, and Kathy Cranfill (Robert) and Tessa Kube (Mike), all of Lexington; a son, Errol Ralf Alger (Charlene) of Winnsboro, SC; three sisters, Doris Leonard (Homer) of Asheboro, Margie Smith of Seattle, WA, and Francis DeVrise (Vernard) of Irons, MI; a brother, Matthew Mack Fultz of Asheboro; a son-in-law, Robert Sears of Lexington; 12 grandchildren; and an expected great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Burgess; four brothers, Rainey Fultz, Clifton Fultz, Claude Fultz, and Bill Fultz; and her parents. Services were held at Wayside Baptist Tabernacle. Interment was at Forest Hill Memorial Park by Davidson Funeral Home.
MAIDEN, NORTH CAROLINA: Mildred Hattie Phillips Allen, 88, died November 17, 2006. She was born September 20, 1918 to Oscar Lee Phillips and Alice Hutchen Phillips. She attended Maiden Church of God. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Dean Matlock of Conover, and Carolyn and Bruce Morse of Maiden; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Susan Allen of Inman, SC; a sister, Ruby Pruitt of Swannanoa; 4 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Blake Allen; a sister, Alma McMahan; two brothers, Charles Phillips and Lloyd Phillips; her parents; a grandson, Jon David Allen; and a great-granddaughter, Abigayle Matlock. APEX, NORTH CAROLINA: Wylatta Gilliam Allen, 93, died June 9, 2007. She was born August 17, 1913 to Chapin and Norma Campbell Gilliam. She attended Salem Baptist Church, and was a member of the Golden Age Club. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jonathan Allen (Carolyn) of Raleigh, and Malcolm S. Allen, Jr. (Dorothy) of Roy, UT; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Sharpe Allen, Sr.; three brothers, Myers Gilliam, Nevin Bennett Gilliam, Sr., and Liggett Gilliam; and a sister, Delores Celestia Williams. Burial was at the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery by Apex Funeral Home.
CULLOWHEE, NORTH CAROLINA: Pearl Robbins Allison, 84, died September 18, 1978 at C.J. Harris Hospital. She was a native of Houston County, TN. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Rodney Leftwich of Cullowhee, and Mrs. Glenn Smotherman of Nashville, TN; a brother, Thales Thomas Robbins of Erin, TN; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. WAGRAM, NORTH CAROLINA: Mabel Clark Ammons, 81, died April 27, 2007. She was born June 23, 1925 in Scotland County to Henry T. Clark, Sr. and Emma Laviner Clark. She retired from Ingraham Time Products, and was an active member of Montpelier Presbyterian Church. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Beth Ammons, and Ben and Betty Ammons, all of Wagram; two sisters, Lucille McRae of Laurinburg, and Beatrice Hannah of Monroe; 7 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Ammons; a daughter, Diane Ammons Snipes; three sisters, Fannie Smith, Julie Britt, and Roberta Easley; and three brothers, Henry T. Clark, Jr., Willie Clark, and Murphy Clark. Services were held at Montpelier Presbyterian Church. Interment was at Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Richard Boles Funeral Service.
CHEROKEE, NORTH CAROLINA: Nellie Arch, 57, died February 22, 1978 in Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late Mrs. Olivan Arch. She is survived by a nephew, Ronald Arch of Cherokee. Interment was at Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Moody Funeral Home.
SALISBURY, NORTH CAROLINA: Pauline Wetmore Arey, 87, died February 28, 2007 at The Laurels of Salisbury. She was born November 30, 1919 in Rowan County to John Wetmore and Bertha Watson Wetmore. She worked in the retail clothing industry, and was a retired manager of Apple Tree Outlet. She attended Salisbury Business College. She was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed cooking. She is survived by two daughters, Paula Kluttz (Nathan), and Betty Myers (Nelson), all of Salisbury; two brothers Paul Wetmore of Raleigh, and William Wetmore of Woodleaf; a daughter-in-law, Susan Wetmore of Rocky Mount; 5 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Herman Arey; a son, James "Jim" Arey; two sisters, Annie Thomason and Mary Emma Lyerly; and two brothers, Watson and James Wetmore. Services were held at Unity Presbyterian Church. Burial was at the church cemetery by Lyerly Funeral Home.

KANNAPOLIS, NORTH CAROLINA: Charles Moody Beaver, 76, died March 7, 2009. He was born September 30, 1932 to Coy Douglas Beaver and Jennie Mae Rippy Beaver. He was a graduate of The Citadel in Charleston, SC, and North Carolina State University. He was a retired electrical engineer, and formerly worked in Lynchburg, VA. LUMBERTON, NORTH CAROLINA: Carlie Edmund Bell, 71, died March 16, 1997 at his residence. He was born April 6, 1925 in Robeson County to Rev. James Edmund and Bertha Brewington Bell. SPENCER, NORTH CAROLINA: Rinaldo Alfred Bernardi, 91, died June 2, 2009. He was born December 31, 1917 to Dina and Edith Salotti Bernardi. He was retired. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and also served as a captain in the U.S. Army. He attended the First Baptist Church of Spencer, where he taught Sunday School and was on the Board of Deacons. He was a member and Past Master of the Spencer Masonic Lodge, a Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the VFW, American Legion, AMVETS, and the DAV. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Thomas Bernardi; and his parents. Interment with Masonic rites was at Chestnut Hill Cemetery under the direction of Summersett Funeral Home.
WILKESBORO, NORTH CAROLINA: Don Ray Beshears, 79, died August 30, 2005 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. He was born October 23, 1925 in Wilkes County to Ray Vaughn and Eva Waters Beshears. He retired from Kincaid Furniture, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Services were held at Lilesville United Methodist Church. Burial was at the Lilesville Cemetery with arrangements by Leavitt Funeral Home.

WILMINGTON, NORTH CAROLINA: William Charles "Bill" Leeuwenburg, 70, died August 9, 2004. He was born June 2, 1934 in Wilmington to the late Otto and Tena Ward Leeuwenburg. He was a graduate of the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science, in addition to having attended East Carolina College and Wilmington College, and worked as a licensed funeral director and embalmer in North Carolina for over 50 years. He represented Pierce Chemical Company in the Carolinas for 44 years, and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was past president of the Funeral Supply Sales Association, and was a member of the North Carolina Funeral Directors' Association, the American Legion, the VFW, the National Order of Trench Rats, and the the Disabled American Veterans, in which he served as a state service director. He was also a member of the Titusville, FL Elks Lodge, Orient Lodge #395 A.F.&A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies, and the Sudan Shrine Temple. He had been a resident of both Wilmington and Titusville, FL. He is survived by his wife, Carol Bunch Leeuwenburg; a daughter, Sue Gibson (Mike) of Virginia Beach, VA; a son, William Charles Leeuwenburg II (Dee Jaye) of Morehead City; and 2 granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Olive Sutton Leeuwenburg. Services were held at Church Of The Servant. Interment was at Oleander Memorial Gardens with arrangements by Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service.
