ASHLAND, WISCONSIN: Helen Magnuson, 96, died January 23, 2009 at Golden Living Center-Court Manor in Ashland. She was born December 5, 1912 in Duluth, MN to Matthew and Hilma Maki Webster. She was a longtime nursing assistant at St. Anthony's Nursing Home and Court Manor Nursing Home in Ashland. She was an artist, and loved and rescued animals. Survivors include three daughters, Carol Oesterreich (Kurt), Lynn Frechette (Mike), and Gail Magnuson-Rouskey, all of Ashland; her grandchildren; her great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert R. Magnuson; her parents; a stepson, Herbert A. Magnuson; a sister, Betty Pylkki; and a grandson, Kent Oesterreich. Interment was at Mount Hope Cemetery in Ashland under the direction of Mountain Funeral Home.

FENNIMORE, WISCONSIN: Clara M. Mauer, 84, died August 19, 1973 at Memorial Hospital in Lancaster. MADISON, WISCONSIN: Verna Mayersak, 100, died February 4, 2007, one day after her 100th birthday. She was born February 3, 1907 to Andrew and Rosalia Bugel. She and her husband retired from the grocery business. She was a member of the Catholic Sokol Society. She is survived by two daughters, JoAnne (Rockne) Flowers and Rozelle (LaVern) Lukenbach-Meyer, both of Madison; 6 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Mayersak; four brothers; two sisters; and a grandson. Services were held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. ELM GROVE, WISCONSIN: Sr. Mary Elizabeth McAleer, 80, died November 2, 1993. She was a nun with the School Sisters of Notre Dame. She was the sister of Catherine (Leonard) Johnson of Florida, and James (Irene) McAleer of Chippewa Falls. Services were held at the Holy Family Chapel at Notre Dame of Elm Grove. Interment was at the convent cemetery under the direction of Franzen Jung Kaufmann and Weiand Funeral Directors.

APPLETON, WISCONSIN: Sandra Chloe Meidam, 61, died December 9, 2001. She was born June 15, 1940 to Jesse and Thelma Harper. She was an accredited records technician at Theda Clark Medical Center for 25 years. She enjoyed fishing, reading, and watching the Packers. She is survived by her husband, Richard; four daughters, Jennifer (Matthew) Dennison of Blackwood, NJ, Lisa (Chester) Evans of Las Vegas, NV, and Karla (Todd) Stelzer and Christy Safford, all of Appleton; two stepsons, Scott Meidam and Ryan (Michelle) Meidam, both of Appleton; a brother, Michael (Judy) Harper; her mother-in-law, Helen Meidam; 8 grandchildren; her nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by an infant son; her parents; and her father-in-law, Erwin Meidam. Interment was at Most Precious Blood Cemetery with arrangements by Wichmann Funeral Home.

ONEIDA, WISCONSIN: Lorraine Metoxen, 86, died March 23, 2010. She was born February 10, 1923 to Dennison and Sadie Powless Hill. She attended Oneida United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Oneida Singers, the Oneida Elders Services, and the Methodist Women's Club. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, dining out, sunflowers, and her dog, Cuddles. Survivors include her children, Dennis (Sharon) Skenandore, Sandra (Bernard) Hawpetoss, and Carol Hill; her siblings, Jerry (Mary) Hill, Blanche (Edmund) Powless, and Vivian Williams; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Commodore Metoxen; a son, Bernie Metoxen; a sister; four brothers; and her parents. Services were held at Oneida Methodist Church. He was a longtime furrier with Norgard's Furrier, and later worked in the warehouse for H.C. Prange Co. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Jeannine Mielke, and Dennis and Sandra Mielke; a sister, Arlene Kabat; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. James and Shirley Tobias; 5 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine Madigan Mielke; his parents; an infant sibling; and two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Edward Kabat and Austin and Joyce Madigan. He retired from Marathon Electric with 38 years of service. Hewas a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea, and was a member of the VFW. MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: Sr. Mary Blanche Moser, 73, died September 18, 1955 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Ashland. She had celebrated her golden jubilee as a Franciscan sister on August 2, 1955. Survivors include two brothers, Leonard Moser and William Moser, and her religious community. Services were held at the Convent of the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi. OREGON, WISCONSIN: Polly M. Motisi, 87, died September 6, 2009. She was born April 24, 1922 in Madison to Richard and Grace Bell Goodlad. She studied at MATC. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and served as a volunteer there, as well as at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing organ, vacationing in Door County during the summers, and watching wrestling and Days Of Our Lives. She is survived by her husband, John Motisi; a son, Jeff (Linda) Kleven of Poynette; a daughter, Sharon (Greg) Nikolaisen of Trempealeau; a sister, Patricia Huggins of Madison; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews. MILTON, WISCONSIN: Orville M. Olson, 87, died August 14, 2010 at Skaalen Home in Stoughton. He was born July 5, 1923 in Vernon County to Thomas G. and Christina Hoverson Olson. He was a U.S. Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, and was a former member of the VFW in Janesville. He was a longtime member of the Milton Junction Seventh-Day Adventist Church, and later united with the Milton Seventh-Day Baptist Church, where he helped establish and lead the Pathfinders. He was also a member of the Janesville Barbershop Quartet. He married Margaret M. "Peggy" Olson on June 22, 1947. Survivors include a son, Tom (Janet) of Marietta, GA; 2 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and eleven siblings. MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: Kirk R. Petshek, 59, died May 12, 1973 at his residence. He was born November 23, 1913 in Vienna, Austria. He was a professor of urban affairs and business administration at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Vienna, and master's and doctoral degrees in economics from Harvard University. He formerly taught at Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT and Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. He had been a member of the UWM faculty since 1962. He had also worked for the U.S. Department of Labor and the Agency for International Development, and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was survived by his wife, Evelyn Petshek. Services were held at the First Unitarian Church. Interment was at Wood National Cemetery by Weiss Funeral Home.

RACINE, WISCONSIN: Lillian Ida Petz, 90, died November 13, 2008. She was born March 15, 1918 to the late Henry and Ida Petz. She was a retired employee of Hamilton Beach Company and Sheridan Products. She was a charter member of the Racine Assembly of God Church, and enjoyed Sunday School, playing the piano and organ, and corresponding with missionaries and foreign relatives. SCHRIMPF, Father Raymond
FRANCIS CREEK, WISCONSIN: Fr. Raymond Schrimpf died January 4, 1998 at St. Mary's Home in Manitowoc. He was born Richard John Schrimpf in Francis Creek, WI on September 19, 1922. He attended the Salvatorian Seminary in St. Nazianz. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, and held a degree in electrical engineering from Marquette University. He returned to St. Nazianz and entered the Novitiate in 1950, professing vows in 1951. He studied for the priesthood at Catholic University in Washington, DC, and was ordained there at the chapel of Trinity College on December 8, 1956. He taught math and physics at St. Mary's High School in Lancaster, NY and Jordan High School in Milwaukee. He was named the province's Director of Finance in 1979, and later became Director of the Deferred Giving Program at the Salvatorian Center in New Holstein. He served at various Salvatorian parishes, and was pastor of Holy Trinity Parish in Hohenwald, TN. He returned to Francis Creek in 1987. He enjoyed working with carpentry and electrical wiring. He was survived by a brother, Fr. Reginald Schrimpf (d. January 17, 2003), who was also a Salvatorian priest. Interment was at St. Anne's Cemetery in Francis Creek.

She was born Angeline Spychalla on March 21, 1933 in Antigo to the late Felix and Theresa Piotrzowski Spychalla. She was a nun with the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis for 60 years. She entered the novitiate in 1950, and professed perpetual vows on August 10, 1957. She is survived by two sisters, Rita Dettman of Antigo, and Sr. Theresita Spychalla of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis; a nephew; and her religious community. HEBRON, WISCONSIN: Joel "Jack" Stevens, 88, died August 10, 1898 at Fort Atkinson, Jesserson County, WI. He was born June 10, 1810 in Jericho, VT to Roger and Esther Snow Stevens. Following his father's death on June 7, 1841, he and his brother, Jonas, settled in McHenry County, IL, while their brother Artimus went to Ohio. The mother joined the sons in Illinois. In May of 1855, she applied for Bounty Land at Chemung, IL in McHenry County. She was entitled to this land under the US Act of March 3rd, 1855 giving government land to Revolutionary War widows. She died on October 28, 1855, and is buried in McHenry Co, IL. Jack was a farmer and moved to Wisconsin. He married Sally (1814-1880). He and his wife are buried at the Hebron Evergreen Cemetery in Jefferson County, Wisconsin.

MADISON, WISCONSIN: Dr. Hugo B. Wahlin, 77, died April 26, 1971 in Madison. He was born February 28, 1894 in McPherson, KS. He was a retired physics professor at the University of Wisconsin. He held a bachelor's degree from Bethany College, and a master's degree from the University of Kansas. He earned a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. He began his career with the University of Wisconsin as a physics instructor in 1921, eventually becoming a full professor. He was a member of Kappa Eta Kappa, Gamma Alpha, and Phi Mu Alpha fraternities, and attended Bethel Lutheran Church. She and her husband owned Wiza's Bar in Milwaukee, Pulaski, and Sobieski Corners. She had also worked at Northern Shoe and Behrendt's Service Station in Pulaski. She was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, and often cooked for various community events. She is survived by a sister, Lillian Pachucki of Milwaukee; her nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Wiza; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Joseph (Frances) Korzeniewski, and John Korzeniewski; a brother-in-law, Eugene Pachucki; and a cousin, Tony Baranowski. Services were held at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Interment was at the parish cemetery under the direction of Marnocha Funeral Home.

STEVENS POINT, WISCONSIN: Alois J. Wojtalewicz, 94, died May 7, 2009 at St. Michael's Hospital. He was born March 5, 1915 in Stevens Point to Dennis and Martha Zblewski Wojtalewicz. He retired from Lullabye Furniture, and he and his wife also farmed. He enjoyed gardening, animals, sports, fishing, and birdwatching. He is survived by his wife, Laura Firkus Wojtalewicz; two sons, Dennis (Bernice) Wojtalewicz of Amherst, and Richard Wojtalewicz of Hazelhurst; three daughters, Barbara Warzinik of Stevens Point, and Mary (James) Lang and Bonnie (Michael) Krutza, all of Plover; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joann; an infant son and daughter; two brothers, Ambrose and Stephen; and a sister, Margaret Wisinski. Services were held at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Burial was at Guardian Angel Cemetery with arrangements by Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home.

STEVENS POINT, WISCONSIN: Sr. Marcelline Zblewski, 98, died March 28, 2011 at St. Joseph Motherhouse in Stevens Point. She was a nun with the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis. She taught in Catholic schools for 49 years. Some of the schools she taught at include St. Peter School in Stevens Point, St. Michael School in Junction City, and St. Mary of Mount Carmel School in Amherst. She is survived by a brother, Joseph (Karen) Zblewski of Albion, MI; three sisters, Esther Zblewski of Monona, and Nettie Hintz and Virginia Kudronowicz, both of Stevens Point; her nieces and nephews; and her religious community.
